The Summer Palace

10 km northwest of Beijing city, it is one of China's largest (290 hectares) and best-preserved imperial gardens.

Beihai Park

An inner city palace garden started to be built in the 10th century, the Beihai (north sea) Park is one of China's oldest and largest (68 hectares) gardens of classical elegance.

The Temple of Heaven

Started to be built in 1420, it is China's largest temple and altar complex (270 hectares) where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshipped heaven and prayed for abundant harvests.

The Palace Museum

The former Forbidden City, built between 1406 and 1420 in the center of Beijing city proper, had been the imperial residence of 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. Covering an area of 72 hectares, with some 160,000 square metres of floor space and 9,999 room units, it is one of the largest and best preserved palace complexes in the world. Here are collected around a million rare and valuable objects.

The Great Wall

Said to be one of the two human engineering projects visible by astronauts from space with naked eyes, this symbol of ancient Chinese civilization has stood grandly in the land of China for more than 2,000 years. It serpentines among loft mountains for 6,250 kilometers. The photographs here were taken from the Badaling section located at 75 kilometers north of Beijing.
